Telling Stories in Clay: A Sgraffito Workshop
Join us on Monday 1 June, 9.30am – 4.30pm, for Telling Stories in Clay: A Sgraffito Workshop.
Spend a creative day exploring the art of sgraffito in the beautiful surroundings of Poole Museum and Scaplen's Court. In this one-day workshop, you’ll be guided by two experienced tutors as you learn the techniques of layering coloured slips and carving into clay to reveal your design.
Inspired by the historic setting, you’ll create a set of four handcrafted ceramic coasters, each telling its own subtle story through texture, pattern, and mark-making. Along the way, you’ll gain confidence in working with clay, explore sgraffito tools and processes, and develop your own creative voice.
This relaxed, hands‑on workshop is suitable for all levels, whether you’re new to ceramics or looking to deepen your practice. It offers a welcoming introduction to sgraffito, supported by knowledgeable tutors who are actively involved in Dorset’s vibrant arts scene through Dorset Art Weeks.
What’s included:
- All materials and specialist tools
- Tea and coffee
- Creation of four handmade ceramic coasters
- Post‑workshop firing, completed by the tutors
